About Role:

The role of the EHS Engineer is responsible to provide practical support on activities in the field of Environmental, Health & Safety for the site.  And the role is also responsible for the oversight and development of EH&S plans and managing the implementation of environmental programs for the site.  The role manages the EHS activities through team members from production, site logistics and maintenance. 

 

The EHS Engineer acts as the lead in monitoring existing and potential environmental concerns and recommends priorities for resolution. The incumbent works with leadership to define, develop, and implement process safety strategies to enhance the overall productivity and safety measures in plants/sites.  He/she identifies common safety/health hazards inherent in the organization’s operations and establishes guidelines for protection from those hazards. The role leads response and investigating teams for near missed or critical incidents, and audits programs for compliance with company standards, government regulations and adequacy relative to local conditions. He/she develops programs and training for remedial action and maintains relationships with regulatory and government agency personnel.  He/she also leads improvement projects to related to EHS.

Responsibilities

  1. Acts as site resource for EH&S related information with respect to procedures, guidelines and standards.  Supports teams and individuals with respect to EH&S related tasks and activities, incl. issuing Safe Work Permits, providing safety training, implementing safety plans, and conducting safety promotion. – 50%
  2. Coordinates and executes compliance tasks with respect to Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, Health, and Safety.  Performs data collection & analysis, and compiles reports for the Plant. Takes action to close gaps. – 10%
  3. Leads EH&S related improvement projects and takes part in other project evaluations based on the requirements for EH&S. – 10%
  4. Leads and participates in Root Cause Investigations for EH&S incidents based on the corresponding requirements and documents the findings.  Ensures on time completion of follow-up actions to prevent recurrence. – 10%
  5. Coordinates all EH&S related audits and works with relevant discipline Subject Matter Expert to propose the solution to mitigate the risks identified during the audit.  Keeps track of completion status of audit follow-ups and provides necessary assistant to action owners to ensure on time completion.  – 10%
  6. Assists in defining and reaching the EH&S goals for the site. – 5%
  7. Be an active member of the regional EH&S Network. – 5%

Qualifications

Minimum Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science, or equivalent is preferred. Diploma or higher diploma in occupational safety and health will also be considered.

Minimum Experience:

  • 2 to 5 years in a Manufacturing environment, with large exposure in occupational safety and health.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Environmental and Safety laws, regulations, and ISO standards
  • Good interpersonal and people leadership skills
  • Computer skills, Microsoft outlook, word, excel, power points, SAP
  • Communication: Fluent in read, write and spoken English and Mandarin in a work environment
