Overview

Regional EH&S Leader has EH&S responsibility for all Trinseo facilities in the regional area.  The Leader will: improve EH&S results (injuries, spills, PSIs); ensure operations are compliant with all applicable regulatory requirements; satisfy stakeholder expectations for EH&S (investors, customers, communities, etc); and optimize resources expended.   The regional EH&S leader will also support office locations in the region. The leader will have atleast 1 direct report (regional specialist) and will develop and lead them to support the region. 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

 

Improve EH&S Performance

  • The Regional EH&S Leader evaluates performance, prioritizes opportunities and effectively implements solutions to continuously improve EHS&S performance in the region.  The Leader works closely with facility leaders to provide expertise, tools, and training to enable facility leaders to successfully accomplish EH&S objectives. The EH&S Leader identifies current industry best practices and appropriately implements improvements in our corporate EH&S management system.

 

Enforce EH&S Operating Discipline

  • The regional EH&S leader advises, coaches, enables and enforces the use of our EH&S management system. The management system includes: EH&S policies; standards; work processes; procedures; rules; tools; applications; good practices; etc. The EH&S regional leader is familiar with all aspects of the management system, and fluent in many areas of EH&S expertise.
  • Responsible Care® Focal Point for Region – ensure operational obligations for membership are met

 

Coach and Lead Site/ Regional EH&S roles

  • The regional EH&S leader trains, develops, and coaches site RCL’s (responsible care leaders); plant EH&S coordinators; and site/production leaders on EH&S responsibilities. The regional EH&S leader provides needed resources and expertise to site EH&S staff.  The regional EH&S leader manages regional EH&S specialist staff to support EH&S compliance in the region

 

Maintain EH&S compliance

  • The EH&S regional leader reviews, improves, endorses, redirects, and otherwise assists in the EH&S compliance plan and EH&S variance work processes. The regional EH&S leader serves on EH&S integrated audit teams, and reviews all EH&S integrated audits.
  • The EH&S Leader implements effective management system solutions to address common audit gaps.
  • The EH&S regional leader prepares plant personnel for regulatory inspections and supports follow-up actions to findings in collaboration with legal counsel.
  • The EH&S regional leaders supports facilities in their compliance to new / changing regulatory requirements.

 

Facilitate Regional EH&S networks

  • The EH&S regional leader facilitates a regional network of EH&S personnel. The EH&S regional leader provides EH&S orientation and training for people new in their EH&S roles, (includes responsible care leaders EH&S coordinators, and site/production leaders). The EH&S regional leader manages, coordinates, and implements EH&S improvements in the region. The EH&S regional leader coordinates Safety on Purpose program implementation, refresher training, and regional connections meetings.

 

Facilitate investigations

  • The regional EH&S leader facilitates and/or participates in root cause investigations of EH&S incidents, and prepares clear company wide communication of the results for learning across the company. The regional EH&S leader ensure investigations are thorough and identify a management system cause and appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
 

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Chemical Engineering or equivalent

10 - 15 years of experience 

Leadership roles in manufacturing, expertise roles in EH&S, experience with highly automated chemical processes and highly motivated empowered operating teams.
