A TS&D Engineer will provide technical expertise and application development support for Engineered Materials & Polymer Solutions (i.e. ABS, PC/ABS, PMMA, TPE, and TPU). Work closely with customers and cross-functional teams to drive material qualification, troubleshooting, innovation, cost optimization, and business growth across automotive and plastics applications.

 

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support, troubleshoot customer issues, and recommend suitable polymer solutions from Trinseo Portfolio (i.e. ABS, PC/ABS, PMMA, TPE, and TPU).
  • Lead customer trials, material qualification, and application development activities.
  • Drive technical discussions with customers and cross-functional teams to support product adoption and business growth.
  • Investigate quality, processing, and performance issues through root cause analysis and data-driven recommendations.
  • Coordinate material testing, validation, benchmarking, and technical reporting.
  • Identify value engineering and cost-optimization opportunities using Trinseo material solutions.
  • Support new product development, localization, and compliance-related activities, including IMDS and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain technical databases and facilitate collaboration between customers, Sales, R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Polymer/Plastics Engineering, Polymer Science, or CIPET.
  • 3–5 years of experience in technical service, application development, or customer support within the polymers/plastics industry.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering polymers: PC/ABS, ABS, PMMA, TPEs, and TPUs.
  • Expertise in polymer processing, material qualification, troubleshooting, and application development.

Preferred Industry Experience

  • Automotive, engineering thermoplastics, polymer compounding, plastics molding, or specialty materials.
  • Exposure to OEM approvals, material validation, compliance, and customer qualification processes is an advantage.
