Overview

The Senior Technical Lead owns technical governance, technology integrity, and strategic oversight of Trinseo’s depolymerisation and dissolution recycling platforms throughout lifecycle.

The role serves as the central technical interface between the business, internal R&D teams, and external engineering partners, ensuring early visibility of technical risks, progress validation, and alignment with commercial and regulatory objectives. It exists to prevent technical surprises and to enable informed decision-making at the business level.

The Senior Technical Lead is accountable for technical governance, technology performance, engineering quality, and technical risk management across the Advanced Recycling Platforms. The Senior Technical Lead provides technical direction and approval authority for platform-related technical decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor technical progress across all depolymerisation and dissolution platform projects and facilities, conducting regular site visits and technical reviews to assess execution quality and identify emerging risks.
  • Coordinate between internal R&D and project managers, translating business requirements into technical specifications and ensuring engineering delivery meets approved technical standards, process requirements, and business objectives.
  • Provide technical input during design phases, define technical acceptance criteria support commissioning activities. Validate technology performance through startup, and maintain accountability steady-state operations, including process optimisation and efficiency improvements.
  • Escalate technical issues, delays, and risks to the Business Director with clear context and recommended actions.
  • Build and maintain technical expertise in advanced recycling chemistry, process engineering, and plant operations relevant to the platform portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in chemical engineering, process engineering, chemistry, or equivalent technical discipline.
  • Five to seven years of professional experience in chemical processing, advanced manufacturing, or recycling technology environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in process design, plant commissioning, or technical project execution.
  • Fluency in English; German language skills are advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel 30–40% to operational sites across Europe and Asia.
